1. DS1/T1 (1.544Mbps)

A DS1 (also known as a T1) is a dedicated phone connection supporting data rates up to 1.544Mb/sec. A DS1/T1 line actually consists of 24 individual channels, each of which supports 64Kbits per second. Each 64Kb/sec channel can be configured to carry voice or data traffic.

Pacific Bell's FasTrak Flexible DS1 - Provides different speeds for different data transmission requirements. FasTrak Flexible DS1 is available in increments of 256, 384, 512, or 768Kbps, or 1.544Mbps.

The FasTrak Flexible (fractional) DS1 works in the same way as does a full DS1/T1, but only a portion of the 24 channels is available. For 128 Kbps Fractional DS1, two of the 64 Kbps channels are available (2 x 64 = 128). For 256 Kbps service, four channels are available (4 x 64 = 256), and Fractional DS1 at 384 Kbps uses six of the 64 Kbps channels (6 x 64 = 384).

With FasTrak Flexible DS1, you can enjoy DS1 digital service at a minimum capacity and grow to the full 1.544Mbps as your network grows or as your needs change, choosing increments of multiple DS0 level channels that meet your bandwidth needs.

Performance Features:

  • Extended super-frame format framing (ESF) and B8ZS line coding enable us to actually survey your circuits' performance while they're being used.
  • Contiguous routing ensures that every part of a message transmitted via Flexible DS1 will arrive simultaneously through the same circuit.

FasTrak High-Capacity DS1 - Pacific Bell FasTrak HiCap DS1 (T1) is a dedicated, point-to-point private-line service that operates as a full duplex digital channel at 1.544Mbps. Larger offices with high bandwidth needs are the best candidates for a the FasTrak High-Capacity DS1 service.

2. DS3/T3 (45Mbps)

Pacific Bell FasTrak HiCap DS3 (T3) is a fiber optic, dedicated, point-to-point private-line service that operates as a full duplex digital channel at 45 Mbps. DS3's allow businesses to move data or voice traffic efficiently for a fixed monthly rate. Service is available in a basic (full 45 Mbps) or a channelized (28 multiplexed digital channels - 1.5 Mbps each) format.

  • Applications:
  • Video conferencing
  • Data transfer
  • Multimedia
  • Lan to Lan connection
  • Traffic aggregation Access to other Pacific Bell services such as SuperTrunk, PRI, Frame Relay, and ATM
  1. Frame Relay

FasTrak Frame Relay lets you build a network that can evolve as your business needs change. FasTrak Frame Relay offers a cost-effective, high-speed communications solution for businesses with expanding networks, burst-heavy applications, SNA traffic, file transfer, and Internet access needs.

Frame Relay is an easy upgrade from dedicated private lines with virtual private networking capability. It provides the economics and flexibility of a public network while maintaining the control of private networks.

Applications:

  • High-speed Internet access
  • LAN/WAN interconnection
  • SNA transport
  • Client/server transactions
  • File and data transfers Remote Data Base Access

4. PRI

FasTrakSM Primary Rate ISDN provides 24 individually controlled, software-defined channels for all of your voice and data communications. Each channel has a 64Kbps capacity, enabling a total transmission speed of up to 1.536Mbps. Primary Rate ISDN is served over a DS1 or DS3 transport facility for flexibility and scalability. Out-of-band signaling allows you to carry 20% - 30% more traffic than analog trunks. And call setup is a quick half a second, compared to 3-5 seconds for analog trunks, for extra efficiency.

With Primary Rate ISDN, you can predefine the number of channels used for specific types of calls. So whether it's voice, data, or video, Primary Rate ISDN can help maximize your network's efficiency. And it includes Caller ID at no additional charge.

Applications:

  • Internet and networks connections
  • Video
  • LAN/WAN interconnectivity
  • EDI
  • High-resolution imaging
  • Private line backup
  • Telecommuting host access

Optional Features:

  • Station Record Detail gives you the option of departmentalized billing, which allows greater cost control.
  • Deluxe Call Transfer allows you to transfer a call to any telephone, anywhere, to free up the PRI line for other calls.
  • Inform 911 sends emergency dispatch operators detailed call information so they can send help to your specific location.
  • PRI Subgroups allow you to customize your network by defining the types of calls and call volume for their company
  • Dialing Plan creates a private network by connecting multiple communications devices.
  • Alternate Route reroutes calls to the alternate location you choose if service goes down or lines are busy.
  • Enhanced Alternate Route sends calls anywhere in the world.
5. ATM

Pacific Bell's FasTrak Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Cell Relay Service* is a high-speed, packet-switched transport service designed for unifying diverse traffic (data, image, voice, video) over common facilities in fixed length cells. This enables users to consolidate currently diverse networks. FasTrak ATM is well suited for real-time, delay-sensitive, broadband applications such as multimedia, real-time workgroup computing, and imaging. With transmission speed ranging from 1.544 to 155Mbps, FasTrak ATM Cell Relay Service* also helps eliminate congestion and delays on extended networks.

Along with increased bandwidth and flexibility, the benefits of multiservice networking include decreased cost and complexity, and the faster adoption of new services and applications.

Applications:

  • Multimedia combining voice, video, text, and image
  • ADSL integration for high-speed remote LAN and internet access
  • One-net voice service
  • High-resolution videoconferencing and streaming video
  • Workgroup and collaborative computing

ATM uses Fast Packet Technology, provides bandwidth (up to 155Mbps) and flexibility to handle your enterprise networking needs into the future.

Features and Primary Uses:

  • Ability to integrate LANS and WANS
  • Handle real-time sensitive traffic
  • Affordable high-speed bandwidth (45Mbps to 155Mbps)
  • Supports voice, video, data, and multimedia traffic on the same network
  • Connectivity to Frame Relay Circuits

ISDN:

Pacific Bell's Business Integrated Services Digital Network is a fully digital network access service that integrates voice and data over standard copper telephone wiring. Users can perform two activities at once (voice and fax, data and fax, data and voice), or use both channels for the same data application (Point to Point Protocol "bonding" to obtain a total throughput of 128Kbps). It helps workers increase productivity by offering exceptional flexibility and multitasking capabilities.

Based on international standards, established by the International Telephone Union (ITU, formerly CCITT), Business ISDN can connect to other BRI ISDN services anywhere in the world, allowing fully digital end-to-end connections.

A user of Business ISDN has access to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). They can make or receive voice calls to any telephone line, whether it?s ISDN or not. Multiple applications may reside at the same site (web browsing and videoconferencing) because ISDN can place data calls to any other ISDN site.

Business ISDN also includes several calling services free of charge

  • Hold
  • Consultation Hold
  • Three-Way Conference
  • Call Transfer
